Peek Preview of what the new Penhydd Trail will look like!

A map has been released showing the new Penhydd trail that will be developed this year through the Cognation project. Penhydd will consist of a blue graded loop and a red graded loop. The red graded loop will be a combination of sections of the old Penhydd trail alongside new sections of trail. Construction of the trail is estimated to be completed in Summer 2013.  As the project progresses we will keep you update with developments.

New Afan Bike Park Now Open

Cognation are pleased to announce that the new Afan Bike Park is now open. The Bike Park is located near Bryn Bettws Lodge, Gyfylchi and can be accessed from Y Wal trail and will be a great new asset to Afan Forest Park.  For a complete description of the new Afan Bike Park, please click here.

 

Pen y Cymoedd Wind Energy Project - Forest Users Fact Sheet Released

A forest users fact sheet has been released which will inform both forest users and mountain bikers of what they can expect between now and the start of the main construction works, which is anticipated to begin in 2014.  Read the fact sheet here.

 

New Rookie Trail Launched!

Afan's first ever green trail is an absolute blast.  A winding, swerving and meandering trail, the Rookie Trail explores new parts of the old time valley.  This is a perfect route for newcomers with a wide trail and slightly sweeping declines.  The skills area that can be found on the trail offers riders the opportunity to develop their technical riding skills. 

 

New Artworks for the Afan Valley

Residents and visitors to the Afan Valley may have noticed some new arrivals along the low level cycle path. A series of six new artworks have been installed in Bryn, Cwmavon, Pontrhydyfen, Cymmer, Glyncorrwg and Blaengwynfi. Read more...

Cognation MTB Trails South Wales have launched a new and exciting website.  Packed full with up to date information, the website shows the different mountain bike Trail Centres in the region and explains what new trails will be built in the future.  www.cognation.co.uk is a must for mountain bikers!
