Distance: 14 miles, Pontrhydyfen to Blaengwynfi or Glyncorrwg and back. 10 miles: circular route Pontrhydyfen to Cymer and back
Time: 3 hours
Climb: Gentle gradient
Overall grade: Forest road or similar
This gently sloping trail follows the wide flat route of the old railway lines that once carried passengers and coal the length of the valley. 14 miles of disused railway and forestroad link the communities of Pontrhyfyen with Blaengwynfi and Glyncorrwg and wind through forest and open areas that were once railway sidings. The old Cynonville station has been converted to a shelter and barbeque, and many other benches and picnic tables along the route offer opportunities to stop and enjoy the view.
Trail maps are available to purchase at Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre or at Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre
