Trail work is on the go in Afan Forest Park...
Whites Level – The Energy Section has had work completed including some stone pitching on a couple of steep banks and some resurfacing and reshaping of the dark boarded section.
Skyline Trail - Current closures - Heartburn, Handy Andy and Grand Canyon all due to forest harvesting operations. Diversions are in place - please follow the signs.
The Wall Trail - Work started on Monday 9th August 2010 to replace the 'temporary bridge' in tramway section with a stone causeway after the last one was washed away a couple of years ago. Work should be completed in 3 weeks time. A diversion is in place sending riders straight to Nantybar from the Rheilffodd trail at the bottom of the valley.
The trail section from Afan Visitor Centre to the beginning of the climb of the Wall is currently diverted across the Afan Bridge due to the landslip that is affecting the old Railway line along the valley bottom. Please follow diversion signs.
Penhydd - The Penhydd mountain bike trail is closing on 12 April 2010 for approximately one year whilst Forestry Commission Wales carries out essential tree thinning work in the area. Full details can be found in the press release below.
Rheilffordd - Due to a land slip below the old railway line near Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre the Wall and Rheilffordd have been diverted to cross the Afan Valley directly below the visitor centre. The diversion is on a shared path with walkers therefore can you follow all caution signs when being asked to dismount.
